Trek Across Corsica in a Kilt
Don't talk to me about low self worth.
Three stories from 3 different men:
- - "From the age of 5 my grandad would pay me in sweets after sex. I've always known what I was worth. Exactly one mars bar."
- - "I know I should have struggled but they had this kind of brace round my ankles holding my legs apart. I struggeld till my feet bled but they just worked me like a puppet."
- - "They said it was like an initiation thing. That it happened to everyone. That I should get over it."
Time was, for stories like that there was nowhere to tell them so a couple of us agreed to sit by the phone one night a week, then we arranged counselling and later set up groups where men could get together to talk. That was 20 years ago. I heard these stories and many more on that helpline. I stayed on that line for a few years before I knew I couldn't do it any more.
The helpline is more than I can do now but there are other ways I can help. Raising money to train volunteers and keep the line open is one of those ways . I know you're going to help so thank you. Any chance though you could give just a few more pounds than you had planned?
