26 years. 26 miles.
Get up and go with #TeamSurvivors to make a real difference to the lives of male victims/survivors of sexual abuse.
26 years is the average length of time it takes a man to tell someone that he was abused. That’s 26 years of feeling ashamed, scared and too embarrassed to tell anyone. 26 years of feeling alone and not knowing where to get help.
We think that is 26 years too long and with your support we can give men a safe space where they will be listened to and believed.
There are two ways to join our team of runners:
Charity place: Unfortunately, having been successful in the Charity Ballot for the 2018 London Marathon, SurvivorsUK cannot apply for any charity places for the 2019 London Marathon.
Own place: If you already have a place and paid your entry fee for the Virgin Money London Marathon 2019 through the event organisers we would love to welcome you to our team!
There is no minimum fundraising target, just raise as much as you can. We are a small charity, and rely on your help to continue the life-saving work that we do.
In exchange we promise you support every step of the way, a SurvivorsUK t-shirt and/or vest plus other gadgets, the best cheers en route and at the end of the marathon, and that instead of hitting the wall, you will be smashing the wall of silence.
Because every mile you run means a year for someone else.
Online fundraising is the easiest way to let everyone know why you have joined #TeamSurvivors and to raise funds with your incredible challenge. You can share your page on Facebook, Twitter and other social media and invite your family and friends to sponsor you.
