We are happy to announce that we will be at the Being A Man Festival this year!

Being A Man celebrates boys and men, and addresses the pressures of masculine identity in the 21st century.

Now in its third year, this major new festival returns to take over Southbank Centre for three days in November 2016. Meet the pioneers who are pushing beyond the limits men have inherited, and discover a world we’ve only just begun to explore.

With discussions and debates on everything from shared paternity leave to shyness, from video games to transgender identity, BAMinvites you to join a conversation about the shifting frontiers of masculinity – and how it will affect us all.

This year we look at what it means to be a hero, from the artists who challenge expectations, to the heroism it takes to embrace your true identity. Our heroes include award-winning artist, BAFTA-winning TV presenter, Reith Lecturer and best-selling author Grayson Perry, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) patron Professor Green who in recent documentaries has brought attention to a range of issues from homelessness to dangerous dogs, male suicide and depression; the founding fathers of hip hop, The Last Poets alongside Ashley Walters; trailblazing solo artist and frontman of Bloc Party, Kele Okereke; and Sir Roger Moore, who reflects candidly on stepping into the shoes of the ultimate on-screen hero, 007.

Another central focus is the constraints on the emotional lives of men and boys, and the repercussions this has across a range of issues, from mental health to family relationships.

Across the three days of the festival, you’ll find a range of speakers who reflect the abundant variety of modern masculinity, and offer insights into the challenges men and boys face on subjects ranging from education, prison, grooming and everything in between, with guests from charities, industry, government and community initiatives.

On Saturday join us for a series of talks, workshops and catwalks exploring men, body image and fashion, as part of our Fashion Undressed series.
